environment |
Asides from the work we undertake in our two mainstream environmental fields; water and agriculture, we also work with communities to enhance various other aspects of their environment, dependent upon the nature of local issues. |
Notably, we have participated in the My Clean India campaign. You can read more about our endeavours here. |
We work to improve awareness amongst local communities and especially youth with regard to the importance of conserving our environment and natural resources for the |

Promotion of Agnihotra |
The organization is encouraging Agnihotra in Meerut and other adjoining districts as a part of environment conservation programme. The relation between Agnihotra and farming has already been established and proved scientifically. For its growth, a plant takes approximately 98% of its nourishment from the atmosphere it breeds in and approximately only 2 % of it is taken from the soil. The farmers who practice organic farming take measures to ensure the soil quality; however, not much is done for keeping the surrounding atmosphere clean. Practicing Agnihotra ensures that the atmosphere is clean. |

Scientific researches have proved that practicing Agnihotra even once in a day cleans 8000 sq. ft. of the atmosphere. Practicing Agnihotra in the agricultural fields not only cleans its surrounding atmosphere but also reduces the risk of insect-pest attacks on the crops. Since the crops are not at any risk from insect-pest attacks, the usage of pesticides is also nullified. Many farmers hailing from Meerut and the adjoining districts have been successfully adopting this technique in their fields. Janhit foundation has also conducted initial researches on this technique. It is worth mentioning that the National Horticulture Mission has included Agnihotra in their program in 2008. For the same NHM has selected two sites as the research farms in Meerut district and it is a matter of pride for the organization that both the sites selected are at the demonstration centres owned and developed by its farmers. This activity has already been initiated. At these research farms, other farmers would be informed about the benefits of Agnihotra and would also be detailed about its effects on their crops. The impact on the crops would be demonstrated to them on these farms. Before the inception of the promotion and practice of Agnihotra, two experts from Janhit Foundation took training for the same at Bhopal, which is the centre of initiation of Agnihotra and further envisage getting it included in the mainstream of organic farming. |
